As I write this, we are T-minus 75 hours from the start of the NFL Draft festivities at Radio City Music Hall in the Big Apple. And I don't know about you, but my fantasy football juices are flowing. Last night's trade that sent Jared Allen to the Vikings really kicked things up a notch. The Chiefs are loaded with selections now and should make some serious hay on Draft Day. Meanwhile, the Vikes might very well have the best defense, both fantasy and realistically in the NFL now. They have three Pro Bowl linemen, very solid linebackers, and a veteran secondary that should be able to hawk more interceptions now that the Purple finally has a pass rush to complement their stifling run defense.
We also know now that Jake Long is going to be a Dolphin, so the Rams are on the clock. I predicted in the
mock draft that I posted yesterday (prior to the Allen trade) that they would go with Chris Long, but that is obviously not a lock. The real monkey wrench now comes with the aforementioned Chiefs, who hold the fifth and 17th picks overall. They have the luxury of waiting until that 17th pick that used to belong to the Vikings to grab much needed help on the offensive line and can now employ that fifth pick for the best player available, whoever that might be at the time. I have a feeling there are going to be a slew of trades. Where will Darren McFadden land? Will three other running backs go in round one? What about Matt Ryan? Does he wind up in Atlanta? Baltimore? Carolina?
Are you ready?
We are.
Beginning this weekend, we will start publishing our Rookie Impact Reports after we find out where the big names go in the draft. Then, in early May we will unleash our FFChamps C3 cheat sheets.
